Svalbard Traverse Expedition

When: 23 March – 5 April -  2 days preparation - 8 days on expedition - 1 day in town


Cost: £4000 - this is exceptional value


All accommodation (3 nights) and food, team equipment, final dinner, experienced guide with necessary safety equipment.

Not included: personal clothing and equipment - we have highly discounted rates through BASECAMP - flights to and from Svalbard - we can advise you.



This expedition is available to those who can demonstrate prior experience in the polar regions or who have undertaken both Polar Training and Advanced Polar Training courses with Ice Warrior. All participants will pull their own sledges, weight 30 – 40 kg and be expected to take a full part in the running of the expedition.



The aims of the journey will be:

  1. To cross Spitsbergen, Svalbard and experience the arctic wildlife and wilderness first-hand

  2. Count polar bears on route.


Where: The exact route will be made up according to local and current conditions but

We will:

     Aim to cross Svalbard from the East Coast to the West Coast, over sea ice and glaciers and through breathtaking         valleys

    The route and daily content will be according to prevailing conditions and team performance



We will arrive on the 23 March – stay night of the 24 March and get out 25 March. Coming back we will get back into town 4 April for a wonderful celebratory dinner (after showers of course!) and leave on 5 April.
